Technical Breakthroughs
The plan details Guangzhou's direction for technological breakthroughs in the new display field. Key areas include printed display and ultra-high-definition, ultra-high-speed recording equipment, where leading advantages already exist.

Simultaneously, Guangzhou will accelerate breakthroughs in core components such as ultra-high-definition video system-on-chip (SoC), data transmission chips, and high-end complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor (CMOS) image sensor chips—these are regarded as the technological high ground of the display industry.
Regarding specific display technologies, the plan explicitly supports the development of cutting-edge technologies such as OLED, AMOLED, Micro LED, QLED, printed display, quantum dots, flexible display, and graphene display.
Particularly noteworthy is the plan's emphasis on developing cadmium-free and lead-free quantum dot materials, designing corresponding new QLED device structures, and researching device photoelectric performance enhancement technologies. This reflects a dual pursuit of environmental protection and performance.
Future Layout
Guangzhou has demonstrated long-term strategic vision in its technology layout. The plan clearly states the intention to next-generation display technologies such as laser display, 3D display, and Micro LED.
In the field of virtual reality and interactive technology, Guangzhou will strengthen independent R&D capabilities in technologies such as dynamic environment modeling, new displays and sensors, and system development tools.
Breaking through key technologies like massive pixel transfer for Micro LED, ultra-high-resolution silicon-based OLED, and heterogeneous computing chips is listed as a key task. These technologies are significant bottlenecks for the commercialization of next-generation display devices.
The plan also specifically mentions accelerating the R&D and industrialization of smart glasses and promoting integrated innovation of virtual reality in fields such as industrial design, healthcare, architectural design, and more. This shows deep consideration for the application scenarios of display technology.
Spatial Strategy
Guangzhou has adopted a "twin-engine drive" strategy for its industrial spatial layout. With the Guangzhou Development Zone and Zengcheng Development Zone as the core, anchoring the fields of "vehicle, display, and chip", it aims to build the eastern center into the core of the "World Display Capital".
This layout considers the synergistic effects of the entire industry chain's upstream and downstream sectors, promoting technological exchange and resource integration through spatial agglomeration. The two development zones have distinct characteristics, enabling the formation of an industrial ecosystem with complementary advantages.
The Guangzhou Development Zone already has a solid foundation in the field of electronic information technology, while the Zengcheng Development Zone possesses advantages in advanced manufacturing. Their combination provides fertile ground for the development of the new display industry.
By optimizing the spatial layout, the plan intends to build a complete industrial ecosystem from raw materials and panel manufacturing to end applications. This strategy will significantly reduce internal collaboration costs within the industrial chain and enhance overall competitiveness.
