LG’s second-generation rollable RX OLED TV launched this year has won widespread admiration, and it also makes people marvel at the continuous technological advancements in various fields of OLED technology.

This full-size LG RX TV can be fully or partially rolled up according to users’ usage scenarios and demands, adding a grand and high-end aesthetic to home interior layouts.

When the entire OLED display is fully retracted into the soundbar-style base, users can move the whole TV with great ease.

Although the U.S. dollar pricing of the LG RX is prohibitively expensive for most people, even comparable to a house down payment, rollable OLED technology boasts extremely broad application prospects.

Twitter user Gadgetsdata released several screenshots of what are believed to be LG’s patent documents, which clearly reveal a laptop equipped with a rollable display screen.

According to the details of the patent, this laptop features a display base almost identical to that of the LG RX, meaning the entire screen can be fully retracted or extended freely.

Meanwhile, the patent images indicate that the screen size of this device is adjustable within a certain range.

Traditional laptops cover the keyboard by closing the screen. However, in this patent design, since the screen retracts into the base, the keyboard area has adopted an innovative layout.

The keyboard and touchscreen are designed as two separate components. Structurally, they can either be connected by screws to allow the touchscreen to flip over the keyboard, or the touchscreen can be made detachable and magnetically attached beneath the keyboard. When not in use, it can also be magnetically fastened to cover the keyboard.

This patent was filed with the Korean Intellectual Property Office years ago, yet it was only published by the World Intellectual Property Organization this month. If the patent is officially confirmed, the idle-state appearance of laptops is expected to undergo tremendous changes, which is highly anticipated by the industry.
